Friends Life Care Selected as Screening Site for “Being Mortal” Film
November 14, 2016
Friends Life Care has been selected as a screening site for Hospice Foundation of America's Being Mortal project. They will present PBS’s FRONTLINE film, “Being Mortal,” at 1:30 p.m., March 14, 2017, at the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia. Following the screening, Friends Life Care will facilitate an audience discussion on end-of-life planning.
“It’s an honor to be selected as a screening site by Hospice Foundation of America,” said Elise Lamarra, Chief Operating Officer of Friends Life Care. “We have the capacity, network and in-house expertise to facilitate meaningful conversations about end-of-life planning. The Being Mortal project aligns beautifully with our mission as an organization. What a thrill for us!”
As a selected screening site, Friends Life Care will receive the “Being Mortal” DVD, outreach and educational material, and discussion guides. The program will engage the public and medical professionals to raise awareness and encourage concrete steps to identify and communicate wishes for end-of-life care. Made possible through a generous grant from the John and Wauna Harman Foundation, the program and FRONTLINE film “Being Mortal” are based on the book of the same name by Atul Gawande, M.D.
